Nearly everyone will find the Zoom PodTrak P8 easy to use. Equipped with functions for recording, editing, and mixing, the Podtrak P8 can accommodate your most ambitious podcast. A color-coded touchscreen interface makes it easier to edit and monitor your recording. It comes with a mic preamp slider that lets you adjust gain (up to 70 dB) and levels, limit distortion, reduce background noise, and modify your voice. Doing a long-distance interview? The P8 has a channel just for recording phone calls, and you can adjust its channel six to a USB mode in order to record guests on your computer. Either option comes with a Mix-Minus feature that helps to limit the echo and feedback that can sometimes accompany remote sound connections. Thirteen preloaded sounds are available through the 9 multi-colored sound pads, and you can also load your own. You can make up to four banks of sounds, a total of 36 clips.
The P8 has a full-color LCD touchscreen display and lets you communicafte in six different languages, English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Japanese. You can record up to 13 tracks simultaneously. Six mic inputs come with XLR connectors and also optional phantom power. An optional BTA-2 Bluetooth allows for wireless call recording. There are individual volume sliders, mute buttons and "on air" indicators for each channel, and includes a dedicated channel for recording phone interviews.
Thirteen pre-loaded sounds include applause, laugh track and others. Also, six headphone outputs with individual volume controls accommodate everyone, letting anyone hear clearly. There is onboard editing, a 13-input, 2-output USB audio interface, class-compliant mode for iOS compatibility, and battery power that lasts up to two hours.
The P8 records directly to SD, SDHC and SDXC cards up to 512 GB, and can hold up to 16-bit or 44.1kHz audio in BWF-compliant WAV or some MP3 formats.
