The Next Generation Focusrite Scarlett Interfaces is Here

Today (July 2), Focusrite is launching its new third generation of the Scarlett USB Range, which will impact the performance and the overall consumer experience for their audio products. The popular brand, which has sold over 3 million interfaces worldwide will be improving the audio performance as well as introducing a wide range of features for a multitude of different models.

The Scarlett Solo interface, which is still widely considered the brand’s top-quality model for singer-songwriters, will be equipped with high-performance converters that will still guarantee the same professional sound quality as the second generation. Both the Solo and Scarlett Solo Studio 3 rd Gen models will still feature its “best-ever” mic preamps, which will incorporate switchable Air mode and a condenser microphone. The new HP60 MkIII closed-back headphones offer better sound quality and long-lasting comfort.

The Scarlett 2i2, as well as the 2i2 Studio pack, will also include switchable Air mode for a brighter, more open sound on both interfaces. Users will have access to two inputs, which will allow simultaneous recording and playback of up to two channels. The inputs allow for independently controllable headphone and monitor outputs. This model will also feature the CM25 MkIII condenser microphone, which enables users to record studio-quality sound, as well as the HP60 MkIII closed-back headphones.

The third generation of the Scarlett 4i4 model still contains four inputs and outputs for multiple recording tools at once, but will improve its quality and performance with this new upgrade. The new top-rated mic preamps are also included in this interface for consumers and will be a replacement for the Scarlett 2i4 interface.

The Scarlett 8i6 model continues to provide a compact studio experience with its 8-in, 6-out audio interface. The set up remains consistent with its headphone outputs and dedicated volume control, but consumers will notice an improvement in sound quality with the A-D and D-A conversions. If you are a fan of Splice, this upgrade could provide a tremendous benefit, as Focusrite is partnering with the brand to give third generation owners a free three-month subscription when they make a new Splice account. Recording engineers and producers who tend to travel will find productive use in the Scarlett 18i8 3 rd Gen model. With eight total analogue inputs, including four mic/line inputs, two high-impedance, high-headroom instrument inputs and four additional fixed-line inputs, it contains improved A-D and D-A conversion, but also features an optical input that can expand into larger recording sessions.
